No one will be surprised when I say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE color guard!!!! I have had the privilege of being a performer and an instructor for a combined total of 30 years now!!!!! 

I auditioned for Bluecoats for their ‘99 season and was offered a spot on their guard. Unfortunately, I had to take a college course that summer, so I couldn’t go on tour. My heart was broken. But, in ‘06, I found out about the Kilties all age corps and I jumped in for their ‘07 season. Then I took some time off to have four more babies 🤣 I came back to the Kilties for their first ever winter guard for the ‘15 season and then marched that summer, as well. The following winter season, my friend and I took over directing, writing and performing for the Kilties ‘16 winter guard.  

Then life happened and I stopped marching. Unfortunately, by the time things settled down enough for me to even think about marching again, Kilties were no longer doing field shows 😕

Fast forward to the fall of ‘23, when I heard about Northern Lights Drum and Bugle Corps in MI 💕
I was going to perform again!!! Not only that, but our two oldest girls were going to be spinning with me!!! My heart was SO full 🫶 Life decided to throw another curve ball at me. At our very first rehearsal, I obliterated my right knee. I’m talking, fully torn ACL, two tears in my meniscus, a fractured bone and anything else that was left was sprained 😔 I was crushed. I honestly thought I would never be able to perform again. I had surgery in Jan of ‘24. The director and guard captioned head were kind enough to ask me to participate as a staff member for the season 🤩 So, I was still able to be involved and to watch my girls doing drum corps! 

This year, I am THRILLED to say that I’m back!!!!! My knee is doing well and I finally get to perform again!!! It has been 10 whole years since the last time I took the field. What’s even more exciting is that I have been chosen as one of our featured soloists this season! I am SO geeked!!!! This is going to be an amazing comeback season!
