Help Elena March DCI and Pursue Her Career!

I need YOUR help in order to march with the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps this summer!! Participating in Drum Corps International is something I've wanted to do for years, and now that I finally have the opportunity, I am in need of support. I am thrilled to be part of an ensemble that not only pushes my limits as a performer, but expands my artistic horizons, allows me to learn from fantastic educators, perform alongside other talented and inspiring musicians, and take note from the east coast's top marching educators for my own pursuits in the field of music education. I am currently a percussion instructor at JFK Memorial High School, and being able to march with the Hawthorne Caballeros provides me with invaluable experience, knowledge, and inspiration that I plan to instill within my own students. I also plan to return to college this year or the next for a degree in music education, or pursue alternative route.
It was very recently that I chose to pursue music education as my career. Performance has always been my passion, but teaching for the past year has shown me the profound impact that I can have on others that share these ambitions: to work toward excellence, create, inspire, be bold, and persevere. Most importantly, through my work I aim to unify—both performers in accomplishing a meaningful goal, and audience to absorb a profound message or be inspired to take positive action. Marching with the Hawthorne Caballeros will allow me to not only continue to work hard and have fun performing, but to take another step toward my career goals. Granted the opportunity, I hope to continue to inspire and imbue courage in those around me through my craft—courage to trust, to love, to lead, to use one's voice, and to embrace and nurture one's best, authentic self.
If you read this far, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. No contribution is too small, and please feel free to share with others! Sincerely, I thank you for your help in making my once-faraway goals become reality. :)

Our first competition June 28th at the Barnum Festival in CT was a BLAST! I can't wait for us to show off more of our hard work at our next competition in Clifton, NJ on Saturday July 12th: our home show, the Drum Corps Grand Prix!

A great action shot by Mel Watson during one of our weekend rehearsals.

My subsection the other week at the annual Hawthorne Memorial Day Parade! Next up, we compete in Shelton, CT on Saturday June 28th for our first competition: the Barnum Festival!

I am honored and grateful every day that I get to pass on my knowledge and experience to my incredible students!

Performing with the Caballeros is giving me great experience that I can utilize to become a better educator and staff teammate!

This August, I will return to Lucas Oil Stadium with the Hawthorne Caballeros to compete in the DCI World Championship Finals!
